Kesher, meaning connection, aims to facilitate connections between each individual child and their own expression of Judaism, among children and families, and with meaningful Jewish rituals and experiences. We utilize a social, emotional and spiritual learning frame to explore ways in which Judaism can support children in important aspects of their own human development.

Kindergarten-2nd Grade
  • Children will explore what it means to be part of a kehillah kedosha (holy community) by learning early Torah stories, celebrating Jewish holidays, and participating in t’fillah (prayer)
  • Children will learn through multiple modalities including but not limited to music and art
  • Children will have their first exposure to Hebrew orally by engaging in Hebrew Through Movement
3rd Grade-6th Grade
  • Children will investigate their own authentic relationship with Judaism by learning later Torah stories and selected texts from Prophets and Writings, rituals and life cycle events and ethical imperatives. In addition, they will continue to celebrate Jewish holidays and participate in t’fillah (prayer).
  • Children will have the opportunity to uncover a Jewish value through a modality of their choice during chugim (electives)
  • 3rd graders will continue to be exposed to Hebrew orally by engaging in Hebrew Through Movement
  • 4th-6th graders will meet in small groups for one hour at an additional time during the week, either in-person or virtually, to expand on their relationship with Hebrew by learning the letters, essential reading skills and select prayers.
